The Rotary Club of Broken Hill, with the support of the Country Universities Centre (CUC) Far West, are excited the announce the introduction of two annual grants to be awarded to local Far West NSW students undertaking higher education. The grants aim to support local people in their pursuits of higher education, acknowledging the expenses involved in studying, whether this be through relocating for on-campus study or studying online in community.

One grant, known as the ‘Open Grant’ (totalling $2,500), is available to any currently or recently relocated Far West NSW resident studying at any university or registered training organisation, on campus or online. The other, known as the ‘CUC Far West Student Grant’ (also totalling $2,500), is reserved for students who have registered to access the services and facilities at CUC Far West. Applicants who are eligible for both grants can apply for both, but if successful in receiving one grant, will be deemed ineligible in the other.

As part of the application process, applicants are expected to provide the contact details of two referees who may be contacted to provide additional information about the applicant’s application.

Consideration of applicants for the Higher Education Opportunity Grants will be undertaken by the selection panel whose decision will be final. The selection panel will consist of:
– The Rotary Club of Broken Hill President
– Two nominated representatives from the Rotary Club of Broken Hill
– The CUC Far West Centre Manager (open grant panel only)
– The CUC Far West Centre Coordinator (open grant panel only)

If any conflicts of interest are identified, the above selection panel will be altered as required.

Administration of the grants will be undertaken by the Centre Manager and Centre Coordinator at CUC Far West, with funding to be provided by the Rotary Club of Broken Hill.
