Higher Education Opportunity Grant
The Rotary Club of Broken Hill, with the support of the Country Universities Centre (CUC) Far West, is excited to offer two annual grants to be awarded to local Far West NSW students undertaking higher education.
The grants aim to reduce some of the financial barriers associated with study and support local people to pursue their education, whether they are studying locally or online, or have relocated to undertake on-campus study.
Two grants of $2,500 each are available:
- Open Grant – $2,500
Open to currently recently relocated Far West NSW residents studying at an Australian university or registered training organisation, either on campus or online. - CUC Far West Student Grant – $2,500
Available to eligible students who are registered to access the services and facilities at CUC Far West.
Applicants who meet the eligibility requirements for both grants may apply for both. However, an applicant who is selected to receive one grant will not be eligible to receive the other grant in the same grant round.
Referees
Applicants are required to provide the contact details of two referees who may be contacted to provide additional information in support of the application.
Selection Process
Applicants will be considered by a selection panel, whose decision will be final.
The selection panel will consist of:
– The Rotary Club of Broken Hill President
– Two nominated representatives from the Rotary Club of Broken Hill
– The CUC Far West Centre Manager (open grant panel only)
– The CUC Far West Student Engagement Coordinator (open grant panel only)
Where a conflict of interest is identified, the composition of the selection panel may be adjusted as required.
Grant Administration
The Higher Education Opportunity Grants are funded by the Rotary Club of Broken Hill, with administration of the grant program supported by CUC Far West.
Eligibility Criteria
Open Grant
To be eligible for the Open Grant, applicants must:
– Currently reside in Far West NSW, or have resided in Far West NSW within the past three years. Proof of residency may be requested.
– Be currently studying, or have received an offer to study, at an Australian university or registered training organisation at the time of application. Evidence of enrolment or an offer of study MUST be provided with the application.
– If successful, be willing to attend a Rotary Club of Broken Hill meeting as a guest speaker to discuss their studies, what receiving the grant means to them, and their plans for the future.
CUC Far West Student Grant
To be eligible for the CUC Far West Student Grant, applicants must:
– Currently reside in Far West NSW, or have resided in Far West NSW within the past three years. Proof of residency may be requested.
– Be currently studying at an Australian university or registered training organisation at the time of application. Proof of enrolment may be requested.
– Be registered to access the services and facilities of CUC Far West at the time of application and maintain an active registration the following semester.
– If successful, be willing to attend a Rotary Club of Broken Hill meeting as a guest speaker to discuss their studies, what receiving the grant means to them, and their plans for the future.
– If successful, be willing to participate in a ‘student story’ that may be published through CUC Far West’s communication channels, shared with local media and provided as part of CUC Far West’s reporting requirements.
