7 Tips to Increase Concentration

Have you ever been sitting there, deadline looming, and despite being motivated and prepared, you just can’t seem to concentrate on the task at hand? With these tips, you’ll be able to increase your concentration and find it easier to focus on your tasks at work.
1. Write a to-do list
This will help you organise your day, so you can concentrate on your tasks. And if you remember to do something in the middle of something else, add it to the list to complete later.
2. Practice mindfulness
Mediation teaches your brain to concentrate, while also improving your well-being. Find some time to include meditation in your day, such as in between meetings, in your lunch break, or block out some focus time in your calendar.
3. Time yourself
Try the Pomodoro Technique to help you concentrate. Set a timer for 25 minutes and work until the timer goes off. Then, take a 5-minute break and start again. After 4 pomodoros, take a 15-30 minute break. You can also increase the time as you get used to concentrating.
4. Reduce interruptions
Without interruptions, you’ll find it easier to concentrate. When you need to really focus on something, hide your phone or mute notifications and put yourself on Do Not Disturb to not get led astray.
5. Train your brain
Studies show concentrating on one fun task can increase your ability to concentrate in other areas. Train your brain by reading a long book, doing puzzles like crosswords or sudoku or even playing a video game.
6. Listen to music
The right music can keep you motivated and focused. Studies have shown that Mozart or the sounds of nature can enhance concentration and increase productivity.
7. Look after yourself
Foods rich in omega 3s and amino acids will fuel your brain, while a good night’s sleep and exercise can help increase focus and concentration. Make sure you eat well, exercise daily and stay well-rested.
